A few months after Pauline Storment’s murder Jack Butler would walk into the Fayetteville police station and confess to the murder of Pauline. Now, police took his statement but no charges were ever brought and at the time based on a 1980s newspaper interview with a police officer who had worked on the case the general feeling was that Jack was either seeking fame or had a mental imbalance because while he presented a scenario that he approached Pauline Storment from behind and stabbed her the details such as his route he took in the confession, he said she was carrying a record player instead of college notebooks and tape recorder and the forensics suggest a butcher knife as the weapon and Jack use a pocket knife and stabbed her 3 times not the 7 to 8 times that were known. So, he was allowed to walk.

Yet, I got to think about a detail where he states he thought it was his wife and I have always been curious if Pauline and his wife had similar features. And boy did they.

Lynnice (McDonald) Butler would divorce Jack 6yrs after the murder in 1977.

Why do I care?

It’s because my maternal grandfather’s cousin was Pauline Storment and I have seen everyone who knew her pass on without ever learning the truth.

So, that is why this site is dedicated to exposing the hidden truths that have held her tragic murder in the shadows for all these years.

We may never ger the complete picture of that night but I will go to my grave knowing I did everything to honor her memory and untangle the web of confusion that has engulfed this case for half a century and counting.
