In 1973, a Fayetteville, Arkansas native Stephen Wayne Cooper killed Ronald Johnson on June 10th near Yarnell, Arizona. Yet, two years earlier on April 18th he would be interviewed by R.D. Arnold and Bud Dennis of the Fayetteville PD in connection to the April 12th, 1971, Pauline Storment murder when it was determined he should be considered a suspect.

Cooper would be charged and convicted of the Ronald Johnson murder and would die in prison in 1983. Sadly, Pauline Storment’s killer has never been identified, if ever found. The case still remains unsolved and as of 2022 the Arkansas State Cold Case Division chose to close the case as Unsolved. Pauline Storment’s case was the oldest unsolved case in their hands at that time.
